Lightbulb Help with a holster?

I have been looking for a holster to match (in date anyway) my "G" code Luger, why do I keep seeing 40,41,or 42 dates but NEVER a 1935? are they really rare? Where is a good place to look for one? any help on this subject will place you on my list of thank you's owed.. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

1935's are not common, so you see them, but at high prices.

Of course, in reality, it is nice to have one within a year or so, but being issued with a gun, you would see a year earleir or several years later than your gun. all depend son when it was issued from "supply".

Personnaly, I try to find a holster that is close, but after the gun was made, but right before it was made would also make sense.

I hear ya. I got one today, it is mostly mint shape other than the fact that the straps were removed and a 4 rivet square of leather with a weapons belt hook was attached. I have seen one other and it was a Norweigen army conversion. Mine has a Lederwarenwerk, Curt Vogel stamp on the back but can't see the date. I have seen some 36's but never yet seen a 35. Thanks for the reply.

Hmmmm - I was just checking the holster that my G date is in (I bought it for my Dad when I was 18). It's proofed - dated 1935.. Looks like DRESDEN on the stamp, but I can't make out the name or the WaAProof Number? I'll try Bob's baby powder trick later - and see what I can see....

Hope this helps!

John

Well - I just tried baby powder...

Here you go:

WaA 14 and a little "2" or maybe 142 - it's really hard to see, to be honest. I'll try tomorrow... And take a pic..

Makers name: "C????HEN"

Looks like DRESDEN has a little "." at the end...

Anyone know? I'm not a holster guy..???

By the way John D, not sure if you are aware but I looked in a productions book today and there were only 54,???. of the "G" codes made. That made my day. Makes it rare in my eyes.

Thanks ML..!!!

For holsters - not in our local area.... You can roll the dice on ebay..?? Sometimes there are a few in the Classifieds on this site as well. Also - Simpson, Shattuck, and some others...

Also - maybe Frank will chip in with some assistance, as I know he's a holster guy, too - along with a bunch of others that hang out here...

Right. I am tossing around one a friend has for sale, I just posted about it on the forum. It's a "K" code in really nice shape, only made just shy of 11,000 of these. WOW.

Well - keep the "G" and put a deposit on the "K"... You know you can't have "just one" - besides, your "G" will get lonely.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Anyway - if you are looking for super low/limited production, have you considered Krieghoffs?? Certain years/variations - an estimated 50 produced in particuliar years (and much few numbers are thought to exist for those same years - like 1938 HKs for example)...

(OK - it's a crass plug to get another Krieg guy amongst us )

That's a possibility, I'll see what he says about that. Credit card has a zero balance too...lol. Not sure on the Krieghoffs, they sound super expensive, unless a flea market yields one up for me. But then again, I have never seen one's markings so I wouldn't know one if it shot at me..lol.

My Credit cards always have a zero balance.. In fact - I get calls from the Credit card companies to "Leave home without us".

Anyway - if you find one at a flea market locally - call me!! I'd be happy to swing on by and take a look for you.. Heh..!!!
