Exclamation Quick value call needed. Pic added

Looking at doing a trade for a very nice 90% 1916 DWM all matching. Repro mag and holster non import and good bore. Straw looks to be 70% or better. I was thinking in the $800-$850 range? The bigger question is should I trade my P7M8 for it? He wants to do an even up trade. I am thinking that H&K's sell for $950+ used. Mine is LNIB.

My opinion--considering the repro mag and holster, the rig should be assessed at no more than $600.

Doug, I can't comment on the H&K but IMO the Luger is worth $700 - $800 if all matching and at least 90% original finish. 1916 DWM Lugers in decent condition are getting harder to find and the repro mag can easily be replaced with an original mag for a nominal fee. I'm assuming that the bore is in at least VG-Exc condition. The pictures look good and unless the grip straps are worn it looks to be better than 90% to me. Just my opinion.

Just my opinion: KEEP THAT LUGER! I own a P7M8 and a couple Lugers. The luger will be more of an investment gun for the future. If you want a HK P7 go to the following link (these are not the P7M8--but pretty much the same). These were recently imported by the German BMI (Border Guard) and are in great shape. I just purchased one. Starting at under $600 (that's a great buy). Just my opinion.

Hi Doug, I think you have the price range pretty well evaluated. Unless I'm missing something, it appears the Luger is perhaps a bit better that 90%. If that's true, I'd try to get a few bucks to boot, but it's pretty close to an even trade. IF IT"S BETTER THAN 90%!!! Good Luck!!

Hello Doug,

My current edition of Blue Book Gun Values list a P7M8 at 100% condition at $ 1100 and at 98% condition at $ 925.

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

I think that this Forum could do with a discussion of just what visual (pictured) condition equates to what percentage (%) condition.

I am not going to dispute anyone else's assessment here, and I am frankly not confident enough of my own percentage assessment ability to judge the Luger pictured above. I will note that comparison of this Luger with the sample pictures in the Fjestad "Blue Book" shows it at 80% or less compared to that scale.

I look forward to the discussion.

Doug,
I just picked up a 1916 in about the same condition, all matching original (including mag) w/holster $900. The holster needs some repair to the tool pouch, but I think I got a good deal.

Hope this helps

Thanks to all for your input. I told him that I would need $200 plus his gun. Ought to put me into it for a reasonable price.
