Post Norton Gallery

I see that the R.W. Norton Art Gallery has joined our list of members. I believe that this is the home of one of the surviving .45 Cal Test Lugers, so perhaps some nifty information and/or photos may be forthcoming (I hope!).

This is from the General Information, here on this site:

Mr. Norton was an early Louisiana oilman, and this Luger was purchased by Mr. Norton from Harry Jones. In some of his writings Harry Jones tells about himself and Mr. Norton taking the pistol out and running a box of ammo through it. The pistol is pictured on page 381 of Scott Meadow's "US MILITARY AUTOMATIC PISTOLS". The pistol has a commercial proof, but also has the GL proof on the toggle.

Just a note to add that Mr. Jerry Bloomer is not only employed by the Norton Gallery, but is the Curator of that institution... He was kind enough a couple of years ago to send me much of the information we already have on the .45 caliber Luger in their possession...for posting on Lugerforum.com

I am hoping that he will favorably consider a request to allow some new photography of the Norton .45 caliber Luger... since the only photographs I have seen of the weapon are old enough to be only in black and white...
