I happened upon this 9mm Interarms Luger at a mom & pop gun shop while traveling. The gun is mint and the claim is that it is unfired. It comes with the box and all original paperwork, etc.
I could use some help on fair pricing. He has it listed for $1k and only will go down to $950. I passed but am wondering if I missed getting one at a reasonable price. I rarely see these I my neck of the woods and never a mint one. Should I jump on it?

I think the price is appropriate. Especially with box, accessories and paperwork in 9mm.
These are very well made Mauser Lugers. They date from the 1970's to early 1990's.

950 to 1000 is a very decent price for a nib version.
This is the 29/70 model from 1970 to 1972. |

For whatever it's worth, everything is more money up here in Alaska, that said, there is a gun shop in Anchorage that has 3 of these & all are LNIB. He won't budge off of $1500.

The $950 price seems appropriate for my neck of the woods. The Swiss version brings a bit less money than the P08 version. In 9mm caliber, it would make a good shooter.....not that a 30 Luger one wouldn't. I gave more than that for my 06/73 with a 6in. barrel in 9mm. It WAS unfired when I got it......not now!!

Such helpful information. Thank you everyone for your comments. I just returned from my trip and can't stop thinking about that gun.
I am still on the fence about buying it since I just dumped a bunch of money at the SOS event in Louisville on two guns and holsters and earlier bought one of GT's tuned snail drums from Numrich. Suffice it to say, I blew my hobby budget already. Ugh! I'll report back if i get it. Again, thank you for your responses.

Eugen,
Interesting pistol that belongs to the first years of production. If you go for it, do not forget the opportunity to get a certificate for your pistol from the Mauser production books ;-) http://www.lugerlp08.com/mauser%20pa...tification.htm

Eugen,
Depends on what you want, if you want to "collect" a late mfg. Mauser fine, keep it as is in the box. If you want a cheap shooter, it could be that too. For me it is one of those that falls outside of my interest, and I really don't like the grip style; but it is cheap enough that I would have bought it and "flipped" it- maybe, probably, or not. ![]() Lots of help, right? ![]()

Epilogue:
Three days after I held this gun, I called the shop owner only to learn that the gun was sold... later on the same day I visited his shop. ![]() Moral: "You snooze, you lose"
