Default MG 42 shooting

On Saturday, I got to watch two reenactors demo and shoot an MG 42.

Yes, that was fun to watch and hear and yes they shot blanks. It jammed on them once. So cool to hear that gun sing.

I also watched one being fired from the personnel carrier.

Their was also one in a bunker.

Very cool! Great pictures!

10 or 12 years ago I out at a local range. Me and a friend were over on the pistol range and we hear this long braaaaaaaaap from the rifle range.
This range was really informal and allowed full-auto stuff if you slipped the owner a few extra dollars...
My buddy says "That's an MG42!" and I was like "No way!".
But it was...

There was a gentleman on the rifle range with the same set up as pictured above running though belts of live ammo.
We went over to watch and talk to him. He had the whole rig, crate, extra barrel, belt loader, etc.
He said it was a Swiss gun chambered for .308 NATO. (Told us it cost about $30K...)
His two teen-age sons were using the belt loader and they were all taking turns on the gun.
Anyway, if was a lot of fun to watch him blow through what must have been at least $500 worth of pre-Obama priced ammo!

A couple of me on an MG42 a few years back. Sadly, the gun's been sold. I have a short video of it too, if I can find it...
