Default Status Update

Folks have been asking me about the status of John Eckert and Bob Adams following their serious accident returning from the Tulsa show.

This past week I had a chance to check in on both of them. I visited with John at his rehab facility in Albuquerque. He has been there for around 7 weeks. His right foot was essentially crushed so they could not use screws and had to wire the bones together. Right now he is getting around in a wheelchair but the podiatrist will evaluate his foot this Thursday to see if it is sufficiently healed for weight bearing. If so, he will get some additional walking therapy and training and will be able to go home, probably in a couple of weeks. In addition to the foot injury, he also had a broken elbow that is healing nicely and pretty much OK, and he had some spinal trauma and is in a back brace.

I finally got a call through to Bob Adams. He had been in a rehab facility in Albuquerque, but his injuries were severe enough that his needed care exceeded the capabilities of that facility. He has transferred to a top rated rehab facility in Denver and is showing better progress. He is also in a wheelchair and is recovering from multiple injuries. I am not completely sure of what all the injuries were so I will not attempt to elaborate. I can say that he had 3 or 4 cervical vertebrae fused and seems to be progressing well with the results of that process. He has no immediate prognosis for his release from rehab but the current thought is that it may be sometime around August.

Just one line to say that I do not know these people, but I do hope they'll have a quick recovery, and of course I'll send my prayer.

Ron, I don't know those fellas, but they are apparently friends of many on this forum and the Luger fraternity. I pray that they have a speedy and complete recovery.

While I have not personally met John Eckert or Bob Adams, their accident affected our extended Luger Forum family. My prayers are with both gentlemen.

With the magic of the internet I have done business with Bob and felt we had a positive exchanges. My mothers maiden name is Eckert, we could be related.
