Default Helmet WW1 German

Here is a WW1 German helmet I picked up this weekend. Last year I was at an antique shop and they had a huge collection of sewing rulers and one was a helmet. I passed on it, although I thought it was really cool.

Well this is an ink well - I offered a lower price than they wanted, but by Sunday; they called and my son picked it up for me.

Its about the size of between a ping pong ball and baseball...

Nice Ed, but now you have to run out and get a quill pen and a bottle of ink!

Not a bad idea - actually the bayonet looks French?

Edward

Very nice acquisition, makes me wonder who made all that work with the bayonet.
Dead interesting.

I think the bayonet is meant to be a letter opener. An entire desk set in one item.

Does the bayonet pull out??? It looks like two different pieces, one on each side...

I loved to play with miniatures when I was little...Now, not so much...

If the bayonet does come out it would have a heck of a curve in it. Seems it would be pretty small too..if the whole helmet is as big as a baseball?

It could be a pen knife. Used to clean and sharpen old ink pens.

The bayonet is a bit of French patriotic humor.
