Default "M" series?

What's going on with this one?

Nice condition, odd grips, odd markings. I'm skeptical, but it will be interesting to see what the police Luger guys have to say about it.

These m-prefix Lugers are genuine and have been discussed on this and/or Jan Still's forum. Sadly, I can't come up with a good search term to find the latest discussion. As the seller has stated, all observed examples have serial numbers less than 100.
