Default Correction - DWM 1916 (not Erfurt 1916) - Finally

Here it is..........my first Luger. I apologize for the pics, but I don't have proper still life lighting yet. Some sort of have a greenish cast......its really a deep blue. Also, if you notice, there are areas with an underlying red cast. It depends on the light. In regular light it isn't very noticable I've heard this can occur (and did occur in some manufacturing situations) if the bluing salts/ingredients weren't mixed properly. I would guess that it is a re-blue, but when or where, no one knows. I also don't have a proper fixture to mount it on yet so I didn't get any good shots of the front and back straps. There the polish and finish are worn like you would expect any blued firearm to be.

Under the barrel there is a mark below the SN which is either a B2 or an 82. I need to find my magnifier.

Definitely a re-blue.
Under the barrel probably reads something like, "8,82" reflecting bore diameter in mm.
Congratulations on your first Luger. How does it shoot?

Don't know yet, but its hard to imagine it not shooting well. I can't believe this thing is 98 years old! Its tight and what I can see of the internals it looks almost unused....externals not withstanding.

Hi Michael, congratulations on your new luger. You actually have a toggle marked by DWM rather than the Erfurt arsenal. At this time, Lugers were rust blued at the factory. Salt bluing was introduced later at Mauser in 1937. The rounded edges and general appearance is characteristic of refinishing. It looks like you have a WW-II era magazine with the aluminum base. These are generally very well made.
