I just chanced upon it during a search for something else... How many guns can you identify?

That nickel artillery Luger shows Lugers were plated by people pre-WW2.
That extended mag 1911 is interesting.
Some nice old ammo boxes/ Remington 9mm
Looks like a S&W type revolver and a Hi standard or maybe a Colt woodsman.
Broomhandle and definetely a bunch of silencers there.

Silencer... how effective is it? Any experience?

It depends on the combination of firearm, ammunition and suppressor design. I have fired suppressors that allowed only the reciprocating bolt and brass hitting ground to be heard. Others are simply designed to help mask where a shot is coming from.

The 1911 may be full auto. There were a number of them turned out by gangland gunsmiths in the 1930s. The lower attachment may be an extended magazine with grip wrapped around it for control. I have seen other examples with a front grip added like a 1921 Thompson. .

I saw a show on the Military channel called "Rich and Will's Top 10 Shootouts" and they had one of those very one's you speak of, a full auto 1911 with the front grip & the extended magazine (20 round I think). They said that Baby face Nelson used one. They also demonstrated it, very cool!

The extended 1911 magazine/grip combo was offered with a companion skeleton shoulder stock by the Monarch Arms Company of Los Angeles. It was marketed to law enforcement as an effective hi-capacity "carbine" conversion for the 1911. This was prior to the NFA of '34. A complete 1911 Monarch Arms rig is quite rare--there is a video demonstration of one on Youtube.

Period suppressors are on the collector market, such as original Maxim Suppressors, but they have a very narrow collector interest. A modern suppressor is going to be much more effective and many early models are currently replicated.

I have had 1911's ocasionaly go full auto on me with light triggers when I used to do Bulls Eye shooting, I also had a High Standard Victor do the same thing when it happen I knew it was time to clean it, until it went full auto again. BTW I never lossed control of either pistol.
