Default Looking for Opinions on This Luger

Hi All
I have been offered this piece by a friend I met in the time I had collected Third Reich memorabilia. Any opinions on the pistol and possible value would be greatly appreciated!

I'm seeing a 1915 Military Luger, looks to be all matching (but it needs to come apart to know for certain). 9mm? Could use some clean up and lube, but seems unmolested with a matching mag. Is the suffix letter under the number on the mag. the same as under the barrel on the frame? Also is there a date on the holster and any markings on the tool? But just assuming that all is well, probably just south of $2k on the high end, maybe $1500 to a collector.

I would guess someone shoved a little grease or preservative tin down into it, where it sat for years.

We'll have to wait for confirmation, but my guess is that whatever we're seeing, it was made from the outside. A protrusion from the gun on the inside might leave the apparent bump, but I don't think it would leave that circular mark. Perhaps something of this shape was under the holster during long storage, and perhaps some weight added by other stuff piled on above. And, its appearance in the pic might not be showing the surface as it may truly be. A closeup, maybe lighted obliquely, would help; and from enough angles to show what's going on...

This makes me think of that famous pic of the alleged humanoid face on the moon's surface, which was created by a cluster of hills and the sunlight at a certain angle. Search "pareidolia" for more info!

Hi Guys
It arrived last night! Here are the additional pics. Underside does have same number and letter, ditto for the magazine. Tool and holster are unmarked. The circular spot on the rear of the holster seems to be where the trigger guard rests as the gun is in the holster.

Looks good. Does the toggle close all the way? Noticed the gap in the earlier photo.

Paul,

I can't see all the numbers, but that appears to be a very nice original WWI Imperial Luger in abou 95% condition - with a matching mag no less!

Is this your first Luger? If so, you are luckier than I am.

The breechblock closure is supposed to have a gap - it's fine.

DJU - does your estimate of $1500-$2000 include having a matching mag?

Geo
