Seems to me that if correct it would be parallel to the date, not 90 degrees out. I agree it, looks home made.

he is a gentleman I met when he was first getting into selling Lugers (we met at an auction). Seems like a nice guy, he does like pretty guns.

The Totenkopf is correctly oriented, at least it's oriented the same as other known examples. Pete Ebbink on Jan Still's forum has, in the past, posted a collection of over a dozen of these. They differ widely from each other and it's impossible to tell which, if any, is authentic.
