I have been offered a Luger in trade and need some info on it. I believe it to be a VOPO rearsenal with a repro EG belt and holster. 90% matching with two matching mags. Pleas enlighten me on this pistol. All info like value is appreciated

Brad, welcome to the forum, would need to see your left receiver numbers, but see if last two of the numbers are x'd out and renumbered, It has vopo grips on it...
It started as a mauser, made in 1940 (S42 is the code name for mauser) Vopo luger is worth $600-$800 depending on where you are, and how much you want it ![]() Repro gear is not really worth much in my opinion Ed

Info owner sent me on it.
* I was able to dig the Luger out and snap a few pictures.* The gun is a Mauser (1940 chamber date, 42 code on toggle).* The pistol comes with one spare magazine that matches.* The one in the gun in the gun matches.* The frame, barrel assembly, takedown latch, and toggle all match.* The side plate (small square on left side) is a forced match (has the correct number, but has another number with a line through it). The safety bar (visible when toggle is open) has a small "x" or mark through the number.* The bore is excellent.* I do not see a import mark on it, but I did not take the grips off. I bought this pistol in the late 80s for over $400 (big money in those days) and have had it in my collection ever since.* This is a solid, very nice looking pistol that shoots well.* I have numbered box it came in.* |

It sounds like your gun may be an East German police gun, with magazines made post war to match the rig. The lined out numbers and the presence of an "X" usually indicate a Russian capture.

Is this what you mean by receiver number?
The side plate (small square on left side) is a forced match (has the correct number, but has another number with a line through it). The safety bar (visible when toggle is open) has a small "x" or mark through the number.* |
