There is a two part article in this weeks' Shotgun News [June 10th mail edition has 1st part] on "Gunsmithing the Walther P.38 & P1" which mentioned [plugged] Numrichs' repro Walnut grips, available with checkering or straight lines. Both styles are laser-cut and cost the same.
http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...010&catid=6157 http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...100&catid=6157 I had an order pending so I emailed Betty and had a set of straight-liners added to my order. ![]() They're not bad... Pros: - Excellent tight fit - Nice sharp clean-cut lines - Includes screw & escutcheons - No fitting required - Halves mate perfectly - Smooth Cons: - Stained but not finished - Thumbrest different shape - Lines not the same as OEM - Rear slope slightly different I fit them to my P1 and it feels really nice...but as maybe you can see, the profile is...slightly different... ![]() I really wanted a set of original black Bakelite grips w/lines, but these were a quarter the price...so here I am... ![]() Mulling over how to finish them (and my BM grips as well)... Two pics showing the Walnut grips compared to my brown P-38 grips...
