I have just received this pistol serial number 27502. Older reblue, numbers matching. Hold open is broken. No magazine (I threw it away). Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

A little bit too shiny. Many years ago, an American expert summarized German pistol's finish being "edges are crisp, but not sharp. Surfaces are smooth, but not overly polished".

Magazine was the worst immitation/excuse of a Luger magazine I have ever seen. I have sustituted for an original I had on hand. The disassembly lever (hope I have it right) falls off when the pistol is disassembled although it has the retaining pin (again, hope I have it right). Any ideas? Thanks to all for your comments. I believe the pistol was manufactured ca. 1907. Pinwheel and flaming bomb marks are present.
Best regards,

Sounds like you are missing the little L shaped spring that keeps the takedown lever in place when it is lowered.
Luger Doc will have those. dju |

Or it is so worn it no longer puts tension on the lever (I had one like that)...

Thank you Tom. I would be looking for an original, unmarked, non-beveled holdopen with its spring, period correct for this pistol. Can you provide it? I also need several other parts for my pistols.
Best regards, Rugger

Haven't looked at this forum for long time. Just an old guy that has collected Lugers for about 53 years. The worst Luger I ever saw was beautiful. Don't let the "know it all's"discourage you. If you like the Luger and bought it at a reasonable price enjoy it. Pretty and better than a CD investment at the bank. I have always thought that even if you only have one Luger and really like it---then you are a collector!
