Early Steyr Marking

I just examined a Steyr- Pieper pistol in a local gunshop that has the following marking on the backstrap:

"SW 1273" any clues to what unit/organization this belongs to?

It indicates the pistol is the property of the Sicherheits Wach as weapon #1273. This is an Austrian Police marking.

Any way of knowing the city or exact use of the gun?
