Sadly, it is all too often that the capture papers turn up long after the gun has been sold, since most vets did not ascribe much importance to the capture papers.
Usually, the papers come to light after the vet has passed as part of the estate, sometimes along with the gun's sale papers, as I am guessing is the case here.

The social security death index reports that a Michael J. Solazzo died in Yonkers (Westchester County) on 3 May 1995 at the age of 65. I wonder if he was the buyer of the pistol. If so, it has gone on to a new owner.

The papers are being sold apparently from Walden, NY, across the Hudson River near Newburgh and not all that far from Westchester County.

Well, if I was an unscrupulous mechanic, the $60 price tag isn't too much to get an original capture document that I could copy/alter and attach to one (or many) of my 'original' rare Lugers...to boost the value a few $$$ more...

Reading an unrelated post on one of the other forums, it seems that microwaving a contemporary document will cause it to 'age' and resemble a 50+ year old original...

Makes you wonder about some of the recent discoveries of rare manuals, papers, brochures, etc...
