I agree on the Bayonet. I think it should be before the holster and it looks like it has a muzzle loop. Not a typical 98 bayonet. Very, very posed pic. Sorta like that other pic of "leroy, da chinee warrior". Guess every side has some wannabe warriors.

My best guess is an 1895 Austrian Mannlicher knife bayonet. The Germans never had a bayonet with a muzzle loop prior to WW2

Maybe a soldier in former Austria after 1938, equipped with some Austrian material?

Hi:

My 71/84 Mauser bayonet has a muzzle loop.

I don't have it here, but I think my Mauser 98/35 Brazilian has a muzzle loop on its bayonet, too, but this was an export model.

The standard German Army bayonets of WWI and WWII were of the "Neuer Art" type, without the loop.

Anyway, the bayonet in the photo is very long for a WWII type. Perhaps it is an Imperial holdover of some off standard type.

It could be a Czech bayonet too, for the Vz24 rifle.
