Smile OK..."Dumb Question time"

Hey Guys.....Forgive me for saying its a dumb question....but its something I would like to know/get cleared up in my mind......anyway....the other day someone posted a note about a Luger Holster for sale on Ebay advertised as WW1.....but said it was actually the WW2 style......other than Brown Luger Holsters being used in first part of WW1......what is the difference between a WW1 Luger Holster and a WW2 Luger Holster......(other than one being brown and other being black)....I appreciate anyones opinion........Thanks again Guys.....I really enjoy this Forum.......Hans Fischer

Hi Hans, There are a few differences between WW1 and WW2 holsters. The most noticeable is the back of the magazine pouch, on a WW1 it's a separate piece of leather (1st photo), on a WW2 it's part of the holster back proper (2nd photo). Hope this helps. Best regards, Norm

Hans, Norm has pointed out one important difference, the backing on the rear of the mag pouch, I have always thought it was a stiffener to keep from bending the magazine...there are several more.
The hinge is seperate on a WW1. On the WW2 it is like the mag pouch backing..part of the back.

Notice there is no line of stitching left to right below the belt loops on the WW1.There is on the WW2.

There are other subtle differences..Those above will help you identify one from the other though!

Hey, I gotta say thank you as well. I had absolutely no clue how to tell the WWI and WWII apart. Every little tid-bit of knowledge is a good thing. Thanks again Norm and Jerry.
