Default Shooter Lugers?

Back in my day, 24 years ago........Shooter Lugers were around 300 bucks. I still read from time to time that SHooter Lugers can be bought for 300/400. Is this true? And shooter meaning all mismatched parts/working condition. The prices on the internet for Lugers these days are just way too much...

ALso guys, I had a lot of luck with Finnish Lugers. The one's with the SA on them. WHat is the story on these, all made of parts and refurbs?

There was one in a local shop I would stop by frequently. It sat there for almost a year with a price of 795. Then one day it had a price of 500 on it and the owner said I could have it for 400 out the door with out even haggling. Reblued matching with non matching wooden bottom mag.

This was in Jan 2007. They are out there.

August..Anything is possible of course but it's not normal to see them that cheap. Of course everything is relative.

Back in the 1880's a Colt revolver might have cost 25 bucks but that might have been a month's salary!

Actually Finnish Lugers started out as all matching 30 cal. Alphabet commercials. The Finnish military changed the barrels to 9mm of different lenghts... mostly 5" with a squared top front sight, and modified the rear sight to match. The mismatch numbers were a result of repairs/refurb to keep the pistols in service.

If there were five $400 lugers, I would whip out my credit card and buy them.

You seldom see shooter lugers for under $600, it does happen and i have bought some, but usually that is the price. Everything depends on if just mismatched or matched and heavily buffed, mismatched and heavily buff, if in 9mm or 7.65mm, etc

That's pretty much what I have seen too. Even the guys who are trying to sell the nasty reblues still ask $600-700 and won't budge, but it seems like they usually end up keeping them as well. Saw a rounded over DWM with a deep black caustic reblue at a show a while back, the guy was trying to tell me that DWM put that on as a high end option. He said it was a bargain at $1,400, but for some reason I have seen him bringing it back to one show after another. The absolutely cheapest Luger I have seen lately was a high polish, chrome plated DWM for $500, but everything was so heavily buffed that it's probably not even worth parting out. It could make a fun shooter at that price though.
