Default Meaning of BYF...?

Could someone let me know if BYF is an acronym for something in German ?

I did a "search" on previous threads back 1 year, and found out it is a Mauser manuufacturing code, but does it stand for anything ? My luger books by Davis and Walters don't define it, either.

I assume BYF does not mean "by your fuehrer"...;>

Default Codes

It is just a code...three letters assigned at random to German firms doing business with the Reich to hide the source of such items from their enemies.

Their Prev codes were 42 and S/42. Walther had 480 and then 'ac'

Several lists have been published.

Nope, these codes meant nothing from a strick translation perspective, like pulling a series of letters out of the hat. They were meant to confuse......looks like the plan is still working. byf, 42 and S/42 all meant MAUSER! ~Thor~
