I think that site is in error...My M40 does have the accelerator...and the thin trigger guard...
I like it. ![]()

Here's an excellent site all about them:
http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/m40/pist40_1.htm They are really nice pistols but they're also reallllly big. It dwarf's my little P7!! Depending on condition, 600 is a pretty good price. |

Ah, good! Your M40 is like the ones described on that site linked above...here's a couple pics of mine...
Slightly different trigger guard, and it has the accelerator (3rd pic)... Not much bigger than a Luger, but definitely heavier... I don't like the placement of the safety...When I shoot it, that safety digs into my thumb... Wilhelm - Does yours have the accelerator??? $600 for an example in condition of Wilhelm's or mine sounds like a reasonable price...

Whilst copying pics of the trigger guard differences, I also noticed that Wilhelm's M40 has the hexagonal barrel flange (mine has the round flange)...
![]() You can see that the trigger guards are machined differently; it's not just an elimination of a machining step...The opening in Wilhelm's guard is larger... Mine is all-matching; "arsenal refinished"; bought back in the late 70's/early 80's...Surplus, parts were abundant...Spare slides especially...I bought a spare slide/bolt...Lots of rumors about the slides cracking; I've never seen one cracked...

Yes, mine has an accelerator. If I remember correctly, your trigger guard is an earlier version.

I have been monitoring Gunbroker for a very, very, very, long time looking for an excellent M40 and an excellent L35. Both of yours are beautiful examples.
They changed to the larger trigger guard to accommodate troops wearing gloves. After all, these were designed to be used in severe winter conditions. Two decades ago, I had (sold it) a mint M40 rig. I miss it and have been looking for another since. Of course, I'm not looking for one Denmark marked or one with import markings.
