Default Numbered Parts

Are the last two digits on the sn supposed to be on the firing pin spring guide and the recoil lever? Also, where ithe the sn usually located on the mag? I have a nickle plated one with a four digit number on the alum plug and the other is anadized with an eagle over 37 and nothing on the alum plug. Thanks

No, the firing pin retainer and the recoil lever are not marked.Serial numbers run from left to right across the bottom except for early Navy mags. Your blank bottom mag was probably an armorers replacement.

Not on guide or recoil lever. Numbers on the magazine bottom. I have seen few that don"t have a number on the bottom. They are prized by those that wish to match a Luger. (well not really match)

Spencer et al, Erfurt, KH & Simson proofed these parts, but only some KH's will be numbered. Most of the spare mags issued by Mauser in 1941 & 2 will be unnumbered. Tom h
