Dear Experts
Does anyone know the serial number ranges or sequences of the P-08's assembled/manufactured at the Mauser Oberndorf plant under French control in 1945-46? Thanks, Jeff |

A large part of our new book (now in print) 'The Parabellum is Back! 1945-2000' will shed some light on the P08 made under French control, backed by French military archive material, as well as Mauser archive material.

Jeff.... Don and Joop's THE MAUSER PARABELLUM estimates between 2500 and 3500 "French" lugers were made.

Of course we took the trouble to compare notes and this is about right. We figure that some 3000 were assembled in Oberndorf and some 200 in France using parts they took from Oberndorf.

Jeff,
Just wait a few months and in the book 'The Parabellum is Back! 1945-2000', you can have a complete insight of these models with the use the French did, the accessories, manuals... A big chapter is dedicated to these pistols that represent the last Mauser Parabellum production before the Mauser demolition. Cheers, Mauro

Alf,
It will be published by Brad Simpson, and available through their website (amongst others, I guess). It is expected to be ready in November. |

The original Mauser Sports models are present in the book. We do not discuss the non-factory custom made target pistols, but we have some interesting shots of the development of the Mauser Parabellum Sports rear sight development, including some 'dead ends'.
