Welcome, Stefano.

It appears that you have a very nice 1916. I can't help you with the markings inside the grips. But we have more experienced people here who might. If all the numbers match it would sell here for about the same price. $1100 USD. The USA is a large country with local markets. It might be less in some areas, a little more in others.

The grip inscibtion is a unit mark and means Infantrie Regiment 43, 5. Kompagnie, Waffe Nr. 17.
The honor name was Herzog Karl von Mecklenburg Strelitz. Station for the II Bataillon and the 5. company was Pillau- the rest of the regiment was in Königsberg. It was part of the 1. army corps.
It is the first time that I saw a unit mark on the grips but I think that it was made in 1916 and not in our days. I have no idea what the meaning of the G is.
You got a nice Luger and 800 Euro was not too much.
Regards Klaus

In the italian luger forum, think is a fake, because the style of the caracter are not tipical of the period, and not resprect the place for this number.

"Effettivamente, la sede di impressione dei marchi di reparto non č consona con i regolamenti dell'epoca imperiale (D.V.E. nr. 185: Vorschrift ueber das Stempels der Handwaffen, Berlino 29 gennaio 1909) e di quella successiva (Repubblica di Weimar: Kriegsministerium nr. 352/6. 19. B3, Berlino 25 giugno 1919)."

Stefano, Nice looking luger. Too bad that they could not sell it with the original 9mm barrel. It would be consided a mismatched shooter in the USA and devalued from the "all matching" price. TH

Stefano,

Can you post a photo of the serial number on the bottom of the barrel?

Ron
