Protective liner opinions, please.

I'd appreciate any opinions on the felt protector sleeves being sold on Ebay. The sleeve is apparently designed to line the holster, allowing storage of the gun inside the holster without causing damage.

My humble opinion is to store the pistols and holsters separately. There are excellent, cheap gun rugs, which better serve to protect the weapon.
In addition, if you are constantly inserting and removing a pistol from an original holster every time you wish to examine it, this is needless wear and tear on the holster.

I like "bore stores" they are breathable, but silicone impregnated "socks" for a gun (they come in all sizes).

I generally keep the pistol in them and the holster in a drawer.

Yup, just as I thought. Somehow I knew the thought of leaving the gun inside the holster---even with a protective sleeve---was too good to be true.

doesn't mean I don't do it sometimes, but as said above, NOT best practice

Those felt liners are moisture traps, unless they are silicone impregnated, you're begging for a rusted Luger.

I've seen lots of guns over the years that were stored in rifle cases, pistol cases,holsters and old socks, etc. that were completely ruined. In a lot of instances, they had to be soaked in oil to peel them loose.

Ron, it depends on location, my byf41 is as new after almost 70 years of storage in its original holster. Why? It's not the same humidity in Florida than on Arkansas. This felt liner is just good to avoid friction with the holster.
