German Police Acceptance Stamps

On page #2 of "Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers" German Police Acceptance stamps are shown.

I am assuming I have a police Luger because it does have the sear safety, and the left grip is modified to accommodate the magazine safety which is no longer present.

It also has the "1920" government property mark.

However, I can not find any of the acceptance stamps shown in Still's book. Maybe I just do not know where to look, or maybe not all police Lugers received the acceptance stamp.

Could someone please tell me where such a stamp is usually located and do all police lugers have one of the stamps shown on page #2?

Reference page 146, perhaps it is close to your gun.....it does not have the acceptance stamps on right receiver.....hope this helps

No, many police lugers do NOT have a police acceptance, I assume you are speaking of TPV, eagle L, etc

Most I own have commericial or army acceptance stamps and the only way you can tell it was a police is a sear safety or unit marking....

Since no one has been able to tell me what the S.P.O.A.45 stamp means and since I could not find any of the police acceptance stamps, I was beginning to wonder if maybe it was not a police Luger after all. So your information is very helpful as always.

Ron, it is definitely police...we just don't know which German police unit.
