Just got back from a short range sesssion with Bill Stanley's newly reworked American Eagle that I just completed! It is a BEAUTY! And after seeing how great it shoots, I WANT THIS LUGER!! Sorry, couldnt help myself. I took a standard Wolff replacement 38# spring and cut it back from 20 coils to 16-17 coils. Then I loaded 5 rounds each of 30 Luger with a Hornaday .308" bullet and three loads of Unique powder. First was 4.7 grs, second was 5.1 grs (see attached target) and last was 5.5 grs. Fired the 4.7 gr load and the bullets struck the target about 1&1/2" higher than the point of aim, these loads locked the toggle back just once out of 5 rounds, ejected every round and closed with an empty mag inplace. Group was in the 2" range. Then I went to the 5.1 gr load, EUREKA, I had hit gold. Group went 0.8" and put 3 of them in the bullseye and 2 more in the ten ring! It locked the toggle back each time, I had found the load for this pistol! I did NOT shoot the 5.5 gr load! What a pleasure to shoot and I will post a picture on the forum after I clean it and take my "AFTER PICS" This one sweet Luger. ~Thor~

That is some impressive accuracy. Obviously attributable to the both the shooter and the pistol. It will give me something to strive for at the range. Very impressive!

Finally, the incentive to clean off my reloading bench is on the way. That load looks to me like it will be one fine target load..a little fine tuning, new glasses, and a few yards closer and I will be able to match the test target.
