Haloes

When, if ever, should haloes not be on the barrel serial numbers? It seems that when the bluing method changed in 1937 the haloes either disappeared or are not as prominant.
I have a strawed 1937 very prominant haloes. On a 39, 41/42. 41 not really noticeable or at least very faint. Comments. Bill

Bill,

I'm not certain, but I think haloes disappeared with rust bluing.
