Default S/42 Matching Luger ???

Just picked up an all matching luger, that is the easy part the question is what did I buy. the togle is marked DWM, the piece infront of the togle on the left hand side has a turkey looking eagle or buterfly with 4 letters under it. On the barrel it has the serial number on the bottom side and the S/42 code between it and the reciever, the right hand side of the barrel has the eagle swastika firing proof. on the right hand side of the barrel extension is a eagle with the code GW3 under it, on left hand side of the barrel extension and the reciever are a crown over an N proof i beleive these are comercial proofs. all serial numbers are present on all parts and this piece just came from a vets son who brought it back from the war. any info feel free to e-mail or call Dean Sova (313)299-9533

dean, sounds like a mixmaster of parts.

couple of things; use the left tool bar, go the technical section and there is a form you can fill out and then feedback to us.

or

put lots of pictures up, close ups and full right and full left

might be true, but an S/42 is a nazi era marking, so it might have been refurbed and maybe not. As nazi era would not have a DWM toggle on it, nor would it have nazi proofs and acceptance markings

what is the eagle GW3 mark and what is the mark on the left hand side of the part in front of the togle looks like a bird or a butterfly wwith 4 letters under it

Dean, It would be helpful if you could make out the 4 letters on the left side of the breech block, but probably from a nazi depo rework or replacement part, as is the s/42 marking on the barrel. According to Costanzo's "WOL Proofmarks" your GW3 translates to Gewehr Waffenwerke Kornbusch & Co. who was doing luger reworks in 1934-35. TH

Just found another mark it is an eagle 63 or G3 on the top side of the barrel all the marks I see are simaler to the early Weimer marks. The more I look at this thing the better I like it. Even the inside of the grips are numbered to the gun. There is no letter code with the serial number just for digits. Also has a + on the front end of the front sight base.
