Hi guys, today I bought this Luger mag for $85 at my local gun show. It is interesting in the fact that the 4 digit serial number has a small "X" overlapping each diget. Does anyone know why this would be?? Also I see a faint "01" engraved above the serial number, does anyone know what this could be? There are pictures below, the serial number seems to be 2163. There is also a 2/1001 stamped in the side, see pictures. If anyone knows what the 2/1001 is or why anyone would spend time and effort marking each diget please let me know.
Thanks agian guys. Last edited by RylanBrissette; 07-23-2009 at 10:30 PM. |

BYF, These code 2/1001 mags are of post WW2 E.German production on the original Haenel machinery. Most are stamped either 1 or 2 over the serial number (your's XXXXed out) for issue with the DDR reworked PO8s. You paid a fair price, as I sell these in exc condition for $75 + $5 S&H. TH

Hi,
Jerry is right. 1001 is the DDR Deliverers code for the former Haenel works. 2 most likely signifies the fact that it is a P08 magazine, as the former Haenel works also made a Walther PPK clone, dubbed the 'Pistole 1001', it's magazine most likely has a 1/1001 marking. |
