I'm guessing that the lanyard might be Portuguese also.

HOO Boy! I have been searching the World to find a Portugese lanyard now for ten years. I have yet to find one or even what one looks like. No period photo's, no reliable descriptions...Nothing but rumors. If the Portugese Lanyard and the German were made the same how would we tell the difference? If anyone, and I mean anyone can shed any light on this interesting subject I would like to be the first to know. Jerry Burney

Jerry,
If anyone could tell the difference, it would no doubt be you! All I have that is even remotely relevant is a swivel that came with a set of Portuguese grips. Both the grips and the swivel were purported to have come from Portuguese arsenal stock. From the pictures I have seen of lanyards, I couldn't tell you if the swivel was any different than a German one. As soon as I recover from my annual Spring bout of cold/sinus/flu garbage and get my act together I'll see if I can find the swivel and post a photo.

On another and totally unrelated note, I wish everyone a blessed celebration of Easter and Passover. We are so fortunate to live where these holy events are recognized and respected.

Jerry,

I think the person you need to discuss this with is Patrick Villiers over on Jan Still's board... I think he might be able to tell you the difference.
