I'm guessing this is a reasonably accurate approximation of what the Democrats will call their law banning gun shows when they get around to it, which will no doubt happen sometime soon.
But I'm wondering what can/will be done to circumvent this new assault on liberty when it happens. In order for such a ban to have any effect at all, they would have to require that gun sales between private parties be "registered" somehow or go through an FFL. If not, what would keep private individuals from gathering together at a private "invitation only" affair; i.e. a gun show without dealers. I've been going to gun shows since the early 60's and would consider a ban to be the last straw that means I would feel no further obligation to obey firearms laws, but that's just me. We all know it's going to happen. We just don't know when.

Like any clandestine gathering, once they are found to occur, law enforcement will seek out and infiltrate. The rest you can figure out. Some of the best things you can do are to make sure you vote, join the NRA, and stay informed.

I guess I should have been more clear.
I was not talking about anything clandestine. But assuming it is still legal to sell between private parties without involving an FFL or other paperwork, an invitation-only private gathering should be legal and workable. In other words, dealers would have to be prohibited from gun shows. Of course, in either case, "law enforcement will seek out and infiltrate" or as this used to be known: spy on the American people. (You've no doubt gathered by now that I am a foaming at the mouth Libertarian and Constitutionalist; dirty words in today's society.)

I'm also old enough to know from experience that what a politician says has nothing whatsoever to do with what he is thinking and planning. Past actions, to me, prove that both Democrats and Republicans have a total ban of firearms on their agenda. The pro and con positions they expound publicly are merely vote getting devices and/or smokescreens. The democrats are willing to openly advocate destroying the 2nd ammendment, while the Republicans, in order to keep up appearances, are willing to let it happen more slowly and behind-the-scenes. Neither group is to be trusted one iota.

Member only shows like the NAPCA events should be safe from the new Socialists in DC for some time. I should think that "invitation only" gatherings will be safe.

I can go to gunboards and read politics there, I'd rather not discuss them at length on this board as it gets folks all riled up. There ARE republicans, democrats, libratarians, etc as members of this forum, please keep politics to a minimum on this forum. ![]() |

Unfortunately, they don't need to be reminded. They know full well what they're doing. Not so very long ago, if a politician annouced he believed the Constitution to be outdated and no longer relevant, it would have meant the end of his career. Now they say it frequently and with impunity. All governments eventually deteriorate to a state of totalitarianism (quoting myself). Unfortunately our "leaders" have discovered that to get what they want, all they have to do is re-interpret the meaning and spirit of the Constitution. The result is an accelerated rate of deterioration. Imagine what would have happened to our "leaders" just a few decades ago if they tried to pass a law allowing them to open anyone's mail, any time they want to, just to see if it contained something "suspicious". Now they've passed the law and are opening our mail, and the story doesn't even make the front page. Uncle Adolph would be proud. My response to the excuse that they're "protecting" us is; DON'T PROTECT ME! I'll protect myself thank you very much. I'd rather be blown up than surrender my liberty.

Sorry. Got off track a little. I've been pissed off at the politicians since 1968.

When I began my search for a Luger, I put a post in the forum noting that I was having trouble deciding which pistol to purchase. Tacfoley gave me some great advice which also included the following quote:
"Both my Lugers were seen and bought in less than ten minutes, including all the paperwork in UK. I never regretted either for a single second, and I'm glad that the very last thing I did with both of them before they were handed over to the de-ac man was to shoot them until they squeaked and the barrels were too hot to touch." I am not by any means a "gun nut," but handing over a personal possession to a "de-ac man" really bothered me. It's not like having your dog neutered..... it's like having puppy killed and stuffed so you can enjoy seeing what a good looking dog he used to be. I later did some research into the British pistol laws and was startled to see how restrictive ANY TYPE OF GUN OWNERSHIP is in England. I'm joining the NRA tomorrow..... Dave in TN. |

Reminds me of a quote I read some time ago from somewhere I can't remeber:
"When it's time to bury your guns, it's time to dig 'em up!" Jack
