Default Tool Question for a 1936 S/42

Hi All
Im a newbie who got the Luger bug a long time ago when my Uncle let me fire his .30 Luger in the woods of Maine. I purchased my 1936 S/42 after returning from Iraq and have since went and became C & R licence. I have been trying to hunt down its matching magazine and have picked up a decent 1936 Holster which came with and unmarked tool.
Since I'm obviously building a rig I was wondering what the "correct" tool should be.
Now I know I need to remove the toold from the Holster and of course never store the weapon or magazine in the holster...but how to I store the holster? Brown bag it?? Ziplocks? Wrap it in a dry rag?? My collection sits in a closet right now and eventually will be in a cabinet with dissectant. But I know that even storing in moderate climates weapons will rust.

Again my collection will evetually have a 45 Auto and possible a Broomhandle
