Luger Oil Cans...???

We have seen these little brass and/or silver-plated mini oiler (oil cans) shown with lots of presentation and cased lugers and carbines in books and on various web sites.

I have even picked some up on e-Bay now and then.

Does anyone have any documentation to support the claim that these were issued, originally by DWM, with cased, presentation, etc. lugers or carbines ???

They also came with Singer sewing machines.

Hi Ron,

As far as I can tell...they came with clocks, sewing machines of all types, old typewriters and even fishing rods/reels.

Just wondering if anyone can place one, authentically, with a DWM piece...

No, these small oil cans which you mention were not accessories issued by DWM because they were made in the US. However, some American retailers in the early 1900's did include them with Lugers which were sold with cases. As Ron correctly stated they were originally sewing machine cans which were also purchased by sportsmen such as hunters and fishermen. They were very practical and handy to have at that time. I do have a few in my collection and they are nice accessories for displays/sets.

Perhaps I'm wrong.. but didn't Singer also produce P38's during ww2?
