Luke:

I get a couple of those fake emails every month. The thing to do it forward it to spoof@paypal.com and they'll verify that it's a fake email and will also allow them to try to find out who's sending them.

I received a similar notice informing me that I didn't have enough funds left in my account to cover my last purchase.

It said that they would "advence" me the funds as soon as I sent a "valud" credit card number.

Watch for mis-spelled words. Most of these are coming out of Nigeria.

I get a couple of these a week.

I open all the headers so they can be seen using (in Netsape the view "All Headers" option rather than "normal" and foreward the result to spoof@paypal.com. Then I process the inbound email with its headers exposed through SPAMCOP which, for better or worse, results in a report to the ISP's that served the spammer.

These, as well as fraudulent eBay emails and those allegedlyoriginating from banks and credit unions are a persistent, several times a week occurrence.

The world is simply full of human scum that persistents in trying to trap the unwary and these are examples.

Be Watchful!

What a coincidence! I was just notified that the British National Lottery picked my e-mail address, and I have won 225,000 pounds sterling. I'm rich!!!

All I have to do is provide them everything from my date of birth to my mothers maiden name, and everything inbetween to claim my "tax free" winnings.

It's got to be true. They sent a picture of Brian Hunt. The head of the British National Lottery.

I'll try not to forget all of the little people here on the forum, as I make my way around the world on my new yacht.
