Default Trying to find out more Info

Like many stories I have received my Luger from my grandmother now that she has moved out of her house. It was the only one that made it to my family that my grandfather sent back home. I've spent some time looking through this site and found a lot of useful information. It is a P.08 byf 41 (Mauser); with Mauser military proof markings. However, I still have a few questions.

Suffix letter looks like a backward a. What does that mean?

Caliber, I can't find it marked on the gun? I have fitted a 9mm into the magizine, and it will fit in the opened action. When my grandfather showed me the Luger he said that it required a bullet that they don't make any more. I thought he said it was a 7mm or something to that effect.

Firing action? When I **** the Luger and then attempt to dry fire it; I do not here the click as you do with most handguns. Also is there a decocking or side release? With an empty magizine the action stays open. With most modern hanguns there is a slide release.

Field stripping? Is there a way to clean this weapon without completly disassembling it?
