Well, I just visited the Gunboard forums to ask a question about some markings on a K98 that I saw. First time in a year or so that I visited. I don't think I'll be going back. They have a forum called the "Minefield". Christ!! What a bunch of Bigoted, Brainless, Infantile crap. They should call it the "I spent 12 years in the 6th grade and married my sister forum". Or just "Dolts".

In many respects not much different than what is seen on TV and in/on other public outlets.

Some years ago I was in Cleveland for the OGCA show. The motel had HBO (which I don't have at home). So that evening I turned it on. Some of what I saw was no different than the minfield.

Needless to say, I made it a point never to get HBO.

Sometimes you just have to be around something bad to remind yourself how good other things are. Good, like this forum

Had quite an amusing inbreed at the range a long while back, who stared into the barrel of the club K98 while saying 'I can't see anything coming out'.... It's an Israeli 308 conversion, btw. (the rifle, not the idiot).

One extreme problem I have with this crap is that I am a very active and supportive member of Jan Still's forum as well as John D's. I promote both as often as I possibly can.

I often tell people to access Jan's forum through Gunboards. If they can't find it any other way.

This junk reflects on my character as well as anyone elses who may be a member. I could give a Fat Rats Rear about porn, etc. If there is one thing I dispise above all else. It's Redneck bigotry and White Supremecists. A bunch of inbred idiots that blame someone else because their Daddy is also their Grandpa. I felt this way long before it was considered PC. These white trash, porch monkeys gag me.

If I have offended anyone, then you'll have to go to the grave offended. I will not apologize to anyone for my statement. It will stand as long as I am above ground. I judge a man by his character, principles and actions. Not by his race, creed or skin color.

Now, for how I really feel!!

PS: BTW, both of my Grandfathers were from the South. One from Odessa,MO. The other a half-breed Cherokee from Salisaw,OK. And these
beliefs were instilled in me by both of them

Well, I feel the same way, but at least it is at the bottom of the boards, and there are about 30 boards, so ya have to at least look for it...

There are several other guys (from the one or two times I have dared to venture into the cesspool), and they feel like we do, so they fight off the slime-balls...

I would add that I am, regrettably, no longer an NRA member , because of what I heard one evening several years ago.

The phone rang and when I answered, I could hear someone talking in the background. As if they were holding the phone to their ear and talking to someone else in the room. What I heard very clearly was, and this is a quote verbatum. "If it was'nt for the Goddamn Niggers, we would'nt be havin' these problems." Then the guy says to me, "This is Shirl calling for the NRA. Checking to see if you'd be interested in renewing your membership?" I hung up and have'nt been a member since.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. The Beretta Forum also has the same bunch of redneck, trailer trash, Bigoted, Brainless, Infantile crap. If you try to reason with them or disagree with them they call you a troll.

I was reared poor white trash in the South. But poor white trash has manners, decency, consideration, and humanity.

The forums dedicated to collectible guns are extremely decent places.

We would have been considered poor white trash when I was a kid too. The kind of white trash I am refering to is the kind that don't want to better themselves.

They just want to make excuses for their self-imposed
ignorance and their choice to remain white trash. And blame someone else to divert the fact. It's easier than working their way out of it. And gives them more beer drinking time.

Hey Ron,

Honestly - there are a lot of Gun Forums out there and many are as you describe, unfortunately.

By contrast - Jan Still and Ed Tinker do an outstanding job with Jan's site. This site and my P 38 & PP-PPK Forums strive to maintain the same level as Mr. Still's forum - and visa-versa. In many ways - we complement the topics, collectors and subjects being discussed - and I don't think any of our sites want to dive down to the levels of many other firearm/collector forums.

Now - about that call from the NRA representative...... If that happened to me - I'd do the same exact thing as you - except I'd get that person's name and report them to NRA headquarters - and tell them they are the reason you are not renewing. Make it clear, plain and simple.

IMNSHO - there is no room for bigotry and racism at any level. Period. It's one of my pet peeves....

I have stopped in there. I soon learned not to open the NSFW messages. Not that I am prudish, but I have a wife and don't need to look at pictures and it is a waste of my time.

Per se, it does not bother me if they want to post that stuff, though it does seem out of place for a gun forum.

Also, in the political board (forget its name - but it is right above the minefield) you will find no porn pictures, but some unusual discussions which seem to be right at the edge at times. However, there are moderators who keep the posts within some bounds. Yet many of the posters on the minefield also post on the political board, current events, etc.

The best thing would be to contact Tuco or Vic or both and in a nice way, express your opinion to them.
