Default Jerry B how much to restitch?

I am hoping to win the GNR holster at auction to go with my GNR Luger. How much to replace the stitching?

Doug G,

Jerry can't quote a price until he "opens it up"; believe me, what ever he charges will be extremely reasonable and, more importantly, the work will be done RIGHT. I will put side by side a 100% untouched holster and one which has some of Jerry's cosmetic repairs, and I'll bet you a jug of your choice against a cool glass of water that you can't tell which is which.

I think I have probably handled somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-3000 luger holsters over the years and NOBODY does it better.

Tom, I couldn't agree more!! Jerry did a great job on a 1911 Holster for me and it is about as new as it is possible to be.

He does do great work.

Jerry has worked on some of my holsters. His workmanship has no peer.

The stitching he did on the HK holster (now on ebay - good pic's of his work there), was magnificent. The $11,426.18 he charged for this was easily covered with my first born female child in barter, so I'm ahead of the game (Jerry, I sent her her change of home address, so when she gets home from Afgahnistan, she'll know to report to you).

The stitching and leather conditioning he did on the audley was head and shoulders above expectations for such a ratty piece... I hope he treats my dog well.

The rig he built for my c96 has fooled several late in the day gunshow "experts". (I'm still waiting to see the pictures of how he turned my Lexus into a swamp buggy).

Truly, my recommendation: Send it too him. He doesn't charge enough. I have never seen finer work anywhere. And I wouldn't have requested him to yet again undertake an "inventive" project, were his abilities not so fantasitic. I about feel like I'm cheating him when he tells me how much it is going to cost.

(Jerry, we'll barter the return of the daughter depending upon how fancy you care to get with this next project-- Rubies? Diamonds embedded on the flap? They'll have to be at least half carat and flawless, 30 or 40 of them in a nice rose motiff should cover it).

When he branches into boots, I'm sending him my Lucchesses (ya, they have a life time repair warranty, but I don't think they can do the job as well).

Glen

Geeze guys...I go out to my bench for a few hours and you start talking about me. Thanks for the kudo's. I try the best I can.

Doug, for cryin out loud, your bidding against me! That's not nice...To be honest I couldn't give you an accurate estimate without seeing the piece. I don't really know what all it is going to need. It is falling apart so I suspect all of the stitching will need replacement. The seller says the metal rivets are badly corroded...I don't know if a GNR has steel or brass rivets. I suspect steel and hopefully they can be cleaned up and not need replacement. If they are brass he may be looking at heavy verdigris.

Glen, My Wife is going to be surprised if she shows up....

Doug, Just funnin ya man! I always like to get my hand in on a repair holster but I stopped bidding when it went beyond my minimum...Besides I don't really need one of these cause I aint lucky enough to have a Portugese!

I had the seller send me some photo's of the inside. You might want to do the same...The steel rivets are pretty corroded. This is indicative that the holster has seen some extra moisture...Probly why the stitching is rotten. Jerry

Well Jerry you may not see it anyway. Someone named "pebbink" outbid me! I wonder who that is???? I think I'll just keep my eyes open for another. I guess if you do buy it I could sell you my GNR.

Default Sorry...

Hi Doug G.,

Sorry...I did not know you were bidding...

If I happen to win it...it will be yours...same price...and I will ship it to you at my costs (or to Jerry's place...).

p.s.

Take a look at the WTB ad you placed in the LF a while back. I added a posting in the last few days you may have missed...

Regards,

Pete...

Ya just can't trust this bunch of Luger Pirates!

Doug, You could sell me your GNR...Then you wouldn't have to worry about a holster...VERY nice looking pistol.

Nice save Pete!

This holster could have some pretty serious issues....Just a thought. Wish I could see it in person before any serious money was spent on it. But then if a cricket had a machine gun the birds wouldn't eat him....Jerry Burney

Jerry,
9mmP=9mm Parabellum, as opposed to 9mmK=9mm Kurz, or 9mmS=9mm Steyr, or 9mmG=9mm Glisenti, or 9mmL=9mm Largo? Darned 9mm cartridges just go on and on and on....
