An exercise in schizophrenia.
On the face of it, this weekend's Portland gun show was one of the worst ever. Not only were there less than a handful of Lugers on the tables, there were many tables empty with "Available" tags on them. Doesn't bode well for the future of this show. 1918 DWM, $800, sold during the weekend for $750. .30 Alphabet Commercial, rework but nice, $700, sold for that amount while I watched. 1915 DWM with a polished-out sideplate, $795. Also an Artillery stock, looked to be authentic, not for sale at this time but probably $250 when it finally goes. .30 Commercial, buffed out and blued, "taking offers", but up to $900 and still hoping... The real story this weekend was walk-in. A dogged-out wreck of a Test Eagle, sold for $500. A pretty nice .30 Alphabet Commercial, sold for $550. Two other Lugers which various people told me about, but I was never able to hook up with them in the crowd. Ever hopeful for the next show. --Dwight |
