I don't think it's Portuguese or Navy.
I think it's a 1906 style (grip safety), flat toggles, Mauser banner (commercial, not military).
No military proof marks, no date.
The side plate looks like a replacement.

(I'm no expert, but that's my thoughts.... did you find an export stamp?)

I think the Mauser banner toggle link is a replacement. The rest of the gun appears to be 98 as the last two digits, but these old eyes could be fooling me.

On the left side of the chamber, ahead of the serial, is a marking of some sort...I can't make out the whole mark, but it is a lazy [something] over a U...Doesn't look like a crown...

The horizonal double crown over U was used on Mauser commerical. police and foreign contract pistols from 1935 until 1940. TH

Pepe, the Luger looks like a commercial model.

They used the 1906 design, with a grip safety, no date code and no stock lug, as the primary design features for commercial lugers.

The Portuguese Navy Lugers had a very visible stamp (see below) on the top of the chamber. The chamber on this gun has nothing or it was removed.

Pepe,
Apparently you have a relatively limited production and documented pistol. Having access to reliable reference sources are extremely valuable.
Enjoy your acquisition.

Now I agree, too, Pepe !!

I looked it up in the Kant book, too.

Hope you will share more photos - including the holster.
