Would the blocks be weeks, months, or years??? Like the 43rd week of 2016??? Or maybe April 2017??? Not all that many 'active' members here to make it interesting...

Interesting thread. He now has my C96. Its only been a month and a half, so I guess I don't qualify for remark making yet...the Luger looks to be MUCH more intricate than my re-barrel, re-finish job. But from the results I see, I definitely think its worth the wait

I had noticed a ground-off screw in the pic of Eric's carbine also (other pic). I hope this doesn't mean you'll have to start all over...

I happened to send him an email tonight.
Either he screwed up and his site was sold or its in limbo. But slightly concerned... |

Eric, it is my considered opinion that, especially in this case, active hands are infinitely more efficacious than praying hands. That is why I like to do as much business as I can locally--where it is possible to reach across the counter and explain things while shaking them warmly by the throat! I don't think I'd pull anything shady on Ed, even if he does live a state away. I think there's some mix-up beyond the "usual". Actually, I'm worried about Eugene, if all this is happening. Has anyone heard from him in these last six weeks?

My original Hellerarms.com site was taken over by others, when I failed to renew the service. I had thought that it would just disappear years ago. TH

Eugene gave me a choice of stock forearms (stock will be from same piece of wood).
He had one stock set left 2 months ago and the main stock cracked as it dried. He could fix it or he could have new ones made (which was scheduled with a guy this month). Hoping to be shooting by Christmas same picture, but the ones with an arrow are the ones I selected.

The site is back
Through viewing his restoration work, it's obvious that C&R is very domain oriented. For the guns that I don't know, looking at his work, I cannot tell that's restored, because I don't know what an original one should look like. For example: http://www.lugerman.com/Pages/SamplePages/Work_23.html Looks good? Well, that depends on how an original one in similar condition should look like. No comparison. No idea. Is this British... Internet not only helps collectors, also helps restorers. 20-shot conehammer restored by Gale Morgan in 1980s appeared in auction. Of course, much better done. But have obvious errors. Surprise. Why? Probably not because he intentionally left a few holes there.. most likely, no enough information in 1980s. |

True. Reputable dealer is a great starting point. I bought my first C96 from Simpson, learned lots of things from it. Sold long time ago, but it's a good one. Also got another one from FGS, FGS was expensive,,,,much more expensive, but it's a good one, too. Initially, I thought I spent too much on it, but the price was raising over years, it's sold easily later.
