Thanks Doug. After seeing your photo I can clearly see how eagle-eyed John was able to tell my magazine had been remarked.

How does the barrel on your P.08 look? Does it match the rest of the pistol, or is it a slightly different color like on mine?

Hi Mike, The bbl. is like yours, a little shinier than the rest of the pistol. Doug

Thanks Doug. With two similiar samples the question now is: Do both of us have refinished barrels, or is this typical wear for our w block 1939 Mausers?

Any ideas or thoughts from the forum experts?

Can you tell me a little more about your magazine? Using Frank's sticky post on Mauser magazines as a reference I believe our pistols should have a Mauser Type 3 mag (Blued Extruded Body, Aluminum Concave Center Pinned Body, 122 Code, E/37 WaA).

What type of mag is with your pistol and how exactly is it marked?

I'm on the hunt for a correct mag type for my pistol and would like to compare a possible mag to the one in your W Block, 1939 Code 42.

Hi Mike, your pistol should have a Type 2 Magazine (blue folded sheet metal body with an aluminum bottom, NOT center pinned). It should have a Waffenamt Mark of a stick eagle over a Large "63". Sorry if there was confusion.

Are there any marks on the tube for the Type 2s, or is the e/63 only on the aluminum base?

Mike, the only marks are on the aluminum bottom.

How would you classify this one. Is this a Type 1? There are no stamps other than on the base.

Mag Base. Notice that the script of the "w" is different from the other mags in this thread.

Mike, this one is for a 1937 S42 Luger. It looks like a Type 1, but it probably is a Type 1 tube and the bottom was changed out. It should be a Type 2 body!

That "w" above looks like a modified "n" to me...

Looks like an Erfurt tube with the squared crimp (instead of half round).

grapppa, the suffix letter is a "w"!! the 1937 magazines had this suffix, sometimes reported as a "nv".
