The mag has value if you sell it by itself, it won't really increase the value of that particular luger, so a repro mag that shoots would be fine for keeping, using, or selling. Save the mag for a future purchase, or sell it and re-coup some $$. Since I'm not in the habit of dropping my mags-and hope you are not either-, I see no reason not to use that one for shooting. You are not likely to hut its value at all. JMHO.

I don't categorize any damage or alterations as "original" or "later", I characterize them as "was I responsible"?
As the caretaker of a number of historical items, I am very hard on myself when I inflict damage on something that I received in finer condition, especially when done through carelessness or neglect. |

As can be seen in the pics this is not a pristine magazine,
I suspect it has been dropped in the past more than once, The reason to re plate it is so it matches the refinished P08 And perhaps get a nickel Mec Gar, because every good P08 should have at least two mags

As I said, waste of money.
You would quite likely damage it getting it apart with that degree of corrosion. Lube it, if it works just leave it alone. JMHO. Getting a spare mag is a good idea, Your choice chrome/nickel or blue Mec-gar.

I already had to take it apart to straighten out the spring,
It looks worse in the pics, aside from the plating flaking off it is fine Replating it would be nearly free, so no money wasted

I agree with GT and the above, that the narrow font numbers and f suffix range of your mag, definately makes it for a G date. Depending on the overall condition of the mag, it is probably worth over $100 separately. If I were purchasing a shooter luger for parts, I'd offer from $50 to $100 more with any original mag, vise a new repro. TH

Well after looking at Eugene's excellent pics of his G date mag, with three out of four identical number fonts, 467, l no longer have any doubt about my mag being original to my P08, so I will leave it as is, except perhaps a new Wolff spring, and get a nickel Mec Gar or two to use for shooting,
