They are pretty much same. In open market, these COLT actually is not competitive, its quality is not much higher (if it's higher), but it's much more expensive. That's one reason their business is not very shiny now.

Yeah they have kinda fallen off , but still get some higher prices for their guns.
You check any early model Colts and they are through the roof ,price wise.

Ok just got back from the range. It shot outstanding. My shooting buddy had some
45 lead reloads and they functioned perfect. Never skipped a beat and the sights
were dead on. I am impressed and extremely happy with my purchase. From 25 yards both hands.

hours later and I'm still grinning. Heck may buy another.

Looks good. I will buy one. I still have a few boxes of .45ACP ammo but I have no gun to shoot..

Since Sheepherder said the black plastic grips look better , I ordered a pair. $8 free
shipping. I will give them a looksee in a couple days. Maybe he is right. Cheap to find
out anyway.

Military are available in brown and black plastic. I have two pair of Argentine M1927 grips in black Bakelite. I just like the way the plastic/Bakelite grips feel while shooting. Especially if they're a bit worn (no sharp points on checkering). Your hand just naturally slides into the best grip, not like the new checkered wood grips that don't slide at all.

And it doesn't matter if you get them greasy/oily. And even if it does matter, it doesn't matter if it matters.

I think for $8 it doesn't matter. If they look wonky then it doesn't matter.

Sure is a good feeling when the holes appear right where you pointed it. Three
of our retired group shot it. All were amazed at the accuracy from a cheap pistol.

With those kind of grips on a park finish, you'll get a USGI look that shoots good to boot. I like the ideia.

Being in the old side of life, I don't normally shoot that good with fixed sights. These
have a bigger back notch and were really easy to see. The person that furnished the reloads, said they were light target loads and they were pleasant to shoot. I might be getting into hand loading.
Also I found if you add the word Bakelite to $8 grips they jump to $150. Need to find a mold and figure out how to mix that stuff up.

You can still buy original grips for around $30, keep looking.
GI grips are not "bakelite" anyway, so don't add that!

This gun,,, too easy. In gun playing, too easy brings in limited amount of fun. It may sound weird, "hobby needs effort to build up is real hobby, lack of fund is all time concern" (derived from this movie review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Idd44iZmc). It's always something making people feel "not easy to come" attracts them. No matter at which level they are playing.

Not sure Alvin...Cheap felt good to me and I have some more expensive ones.
The fact that it shoots good just stops me from really adding much other than
just cheap fluff. Ebay has my number now.

Got my new shipment of ammo. Heading out to the range again tomorrow. Hope
it shoots good with factory stuff , instead of reloads. Bought some Blazer Brass and
several boxes of the Magtech. I have had good luck with both brands in 9MM so I
have my fingers crossed it will be good in 45 ACP.
I'm really pleased with the new grips and hopefully the new Wilson slide spring will work well too. The one that came with it did fine ,but seem to be the only complaint
about it from anybody so decided it was a cheap swap so might as well do it

I can understand your excitement. I just got my IMBEL M1911A1, the Brazilian .45 clone.
IMBEL is the former "Fabrica de Itajuba", the same Army-owned company that produced the licensed FN FAL for decades here. Also, Imbel was the manufacturer of all Springfield Armory 1911s until 2012 or so.
It has this GI issue look, with black plastic grips and black epoxi finish, the same found on FAL assault rifles.
