Cheap $335 1911 ati
2 Attachment(s)
Got my new 45 today. I read a bunch before I bought one, and really its just to play with. I haven't done a Match grade barrel yet and hate to mess up my Colt. Its a well made pistol, from the Philippines and for the price seems like a deal. The finish is parkerized, which is just a step up from galvanized. If I can actually get it to shoot really well I might send it off and have them Boron coat it. I read where they to a slide for $125 and the frame for the same price. They offer lots of different colors and even have a war finish that looks pretty cool. So hopefully it will shoot well and I can make bigger holes.

If you take it out, shoot it and oil it, parkerized gets very nice looking. Very military:)
Where'd you get one for less than $350? |
Smokey Mountain guns and ammo. They don't charge for CC's and give you free shipping. Also they throw in a free pistol rug. It only comes with one magazine
so I ordered a couple Chip McCormick's. I pulled it all apart and its a well made pistol IMHO. Hope it shoots decent. The lifetime warranty sounds positive too. It comes with nice grips but I had a set of the Hogue ones so stuck them on for a little added comfort. https://www.smga.com/p-104744.aspx?s...inch-45acp-8rd Ships on the second day. |

I do prefer classic grips. I'm a sucker for the double diamond pattern of the early 1911s. So, probably I would prefer the original grips. Tend to shoot better with them also. Hope it shoots well. |
Nice gun for that price, shoot the heck out of it and enjoy it!

These grips came with it. They are dark reddish and unless I can bleach them, they
won't go back on the gun. Might find some nice Colts without the logo. |

They also come with a usable sturdy foam lined case. The rug thrown in by Smokey
Mountain is a nice touch too. |

Took carb cleaner and shot the finish off the grips. Then hit them with some light oil.
They look better but still reddish. Must be mahogany instead of walnut. |

I just don't understand why you buy a pistol and right away want to change the finish! Just shoot it.:D I saw a "real" Colt .38 super at the LGS this am, for $900 I almost bought it for you. |
This one is a 45 acp since I have two Colt 38 supers already. The whole reason to buy
one of these was to change it. The only thing I saw anybody say was bad is the recoil spring. I ordered a Wolf replacement today. I love taking them apart and changing stuff They were suppose to bring the 45 ammo I ordered. It didn't show up so I didn't get a chance to shoot it yet. |

My only qualm, I find the checkering way to big. With some USGI repro grips it would be just what the doctor ordered. :D |
This is a nice looking gun. If it's good quality (I mean, shooting quality), please let me know. I will buy one.
Just watched RIAC session today. Many items' price, if I borrow a phrase from member of another forum -- "expensive to death". All millionaire collectors went to auction these days pumping the price up. That's not a healthy play. |
Kurusu I will eventually pickup a set of the double diamond Colt ones without the logo.
Not really suppose to be a pretty pistol just governmentish and accurate. Alvin should have a accuracy test report sometime next week when the ammo gets here. I have lots of ammo here but not a drop of 45 ACP. |

Never saw the specs , but did watch Hickcock 45 shoot one several times on Youtube
to seal the deal. If he didn't have problems then I shouldn't have them either. I also dumped my bag of bones on the floor to see whether to buy or not.:) |
I "need" a bag of bones, that would make it easy to justify buying most anything- just dump it out and study a bit- "Yep, better buy right away!" ;)
|
Yeah Don I had a bag of bones before and she wouldn't let me buy anything. I divorced
her and got a hefty one. Life has been better ever since. |

Ok my for real Colt on the left and the ATI on the right. My Colt is a 1983 series 80 when they were suppose to be made better. I won't say too much bad about my Colt
because its a tack driver, but the slide fit on the ATI is way better. Smooth as a baby's rear. |
