Default Want to buy a Luger and need a reputable dealer

None of the gun stores in my area has any Lugers for sale so I figure I'll look to the internet to find one.

I want to get a 1920 commercial DWM in .30. I understand that this is one of the most common variants available so I'm hoping I won't have to spend too much money.

Can anyone recommend a dealer that I can get in touch with? Hopefully someone who has a website with photos of the gun for sale.

Thanks!

The first place to look, and a place to receive some information on pricing is the Simpsons web site:

http://www.simpsonltd.com/

Prices here will be on the high side. This is a reputable dealer, beyond question. It is possible to negotiate a price provided the pistol of interest is not on consignment.

There will be other sites provided, I'm sure, but I am not as familiar with them.

I would also place your wants in the free classifieds right here on this forum... One of our own collectors may bless you with one of theirs...

Good Luck. And let us know what you come up with.

Max, I suggest that you try to find a 9mm if you intend shooting it, the last time I checked that .30 cal ammo was going for between $28 and $36 a box. You can get 100 rounds of good Winchester 9mm at WalMart for $11.00.

Price will depend a lot on condition even in common models. Also are you looking to start a collection, or are you looking for a shooter to have some fun with? Shooters are much cheeper and in my book a lot more fun!

I would certainly add Mr. Ralph Shatuck to the list of reputable dealers. I bought a K date from him several years back and it was not only a fair price but exactly as he represented it. He's a no frills guy (no fancy web site or pictures), but if you e mail him what you want, he'll get back w/what he has available.

Semper Fi and good luck. But be careful, these things rapidly become an addiction!

Unfortunately my Luger resides in California w/my Dad while I'm residing in Okinawa Japan- I may have a photo or two, but nothing of great detail here. It's a very late K date- 8xx 'a', my assumption is that it is Nov-Dec time frame, right before rolling to G.

Great shape, holster wear only and very slight pitting on the muzzle where it obviously was stored in a holster at some point.

Good grips, marked w/the serial #- all #s match.

I'd buy from this forum. Unless you happen to luck onto one, the only quality Lugers I've purchased from the internet have been from members here and the only quality Luger sellers are here. I've purchased only one gun from SimpsonLTD and will never purchase another.
