Default Looking for Hiram S. Maxim book

Hi,

One of the books in my gun related collection is the autobiography by Hiram Stevens Maxim, titled "My Life".

The book was originally published by Methuen & Co.Ltd in London in 1915. The New York publisher McBride, Nast & Co published a version later in 1915 as well.

The book not only shows signs of being a print proof, but also has a large amount of handwritten notations which show the hand of Hiram S. Maxim's brother, Hudson Maxim.

In order to find if some of these corrections ever made it into the official print, or the US version, I'm looking for a source who also has a copy of this book, so that we can do some comparisions of the book's lay-out, bindings, text outline and contents.

This is one rare book and most surviving copies are locked away in university archives. It's always difficult to get access to that material as an outsider.

Any help is appreciated here.

Gerben, I have a copy being mailed to me, I hope to have it around the end of the first week in December. When it gets here I'll let you know.

Herb,

Wonderful!

Mauro, I also found a copy of Hudson Maxim's book 'Defenseless America' with a handwritten message from the author to mrs. Elbert Hubbard II. A nice book in it's own right, but certainly interesting to me, as I used it to compare the handwriting style.

Apart from that, I'm awaiting delivery of a postwar allied report on the Mauser plant in Oberndorf from 1947. Should be 300+ pages...
