Welcome to the Luger Forum Bill. The markings of which you speak would lead me to believe this is a commercial model. The Eagle (Bird) N is a Mauser commercial proof, and the Eagle J is a Nazi era commercial proof found on Lugers reworked by independent shops such as Anschutz and Vono. The undated DWM would also suggest an early commercial issue. That's my best guess, I'm sure other can add more to this. If you look in our Technical Info section, you will find pictures of the various proofs. Have a look.

Dok - Thanks for the welcome to the Forum and markings info.
My hat is off to the people that set up this forum. The info on markings and disassembly are great. I want to say the Luger is a 1908 Luger DWM Commercial but mid 3000 serial # seems to be a question? Thanks again Bill |
