Default First year of chamber date?

Can anyone tell be earliest year that the chamber date first appeared.
I have a number of early German military and the earliest date is 1910 on a DWM and 1911 on an Erfurt. Was there any earlier dates?
Regards
Murray.

There are two (and possibly three) known examples of Erfurt Lugers chamber dated 1910. Some of their characteristics are recognizably different from standard Erfurt production, and their authenticity is a matter of some debate.

Thanks you very much guys. I was not sure but I thought that the 1910 DWM was the first. I have just picked up a couple of earlier military 9mm
4 inch, one is a 1906 model , grip safety, no lug, no hold open no chamber date, but with military style numbers and the other is a 1908 with no chamber date also but with arsenal fitted hold open , both guns are DWM.
Many thanks
Murray.

Murry, The chances are that your M1906 and M1908 undated are commericals, which would not bear a date, but the proofing on these would be the key to whether they were military accepted. TH

Well,
The 1906 turned out to be a crude fake. The average collector might not have picked it up however. It had military proofs on the RH side and the chamber date had been removed. I would estimate about a 1912 or 13 DWM, no stock lug but hold open. The grip safety had been fitted but the wrong safety lever and the GESICHERT badly removed.
The seller gave me my money back.
The 1908 turned out to be a first issue and exactly as described in Luger at Random. Also nice unit marks.
One out of two aint bad Tom.
Regards

George Anderson told me about a LP-08 that surfaced a while ago with a "1908" chamber date...suprious as well...
